The Réseau express metropolitain (REM) will be a new integrated network linking
downtown Montreal, South Shore, West Island, North Shore, and the airport. Once
completed, the 67-km line will be one of the longest automated metro lines in the
world. The REM opened its first segment on July 31, 2023, with five new stations

REM now has 14 new stations and 50 kilometres of network in service, tripling its
coverage and quadrupling the number of stations in operation.
