The Blue Line Extension project will add approximately six kilometres of track and five new stations
to the current 12-station Blue Line, one of four Metro
lines that runs through the Greater Montreal Area. The
extension will run along Jean-Talon Street, ending east
of Highway 25. The tunnel boring machine (TBM) arrived in October 2025. Custom-built in Germany for the
Montreal Metro, the drilling machine, with a diameter
of 9.7 meters, will be used to excavate and concrete
4.6 kilometers of tunnel to Anjou. The TBM’s assembly
will take place over several months, with commissioning scheduled for spring 2026.
