THE TTC HAS AWARDED the Progressive Design-Build contract for the
Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvement (BYCI) project to Kenaidan
Murphy Joint Venture (KMJV). The BYCI project will signi昀椀cantly
expand and rehabilitate the existing subway station to improve e昀케ciency and capacity and reduce overcrowding during rush hours.
KMJV will work collaboratively with the TTC to advance the
design of the BYCI project to approximately 70 per cent and develop a schedule and target pricing for implementation. This phase is
expected to take approximately two years.
“The TTC looks forward to working with KMJV to further
the design of this incredibly important project. Expanding and
improving Bloor-Yonge station is critical to ensuring that transit in
Toronto can continue to serve the needs to the population for years
to come,” said Greg Percy, TTC CEO.
The Bloor-Yonge Capacity Improvement project is being
completed under a Progressive Design-Build (PDB) procurement
model, which has three phases: Procurement, Development and
Implementation. Once the development phase is completed, TTC
Board approval will be required to move to the implementation
phase, where station design will be completed and construction
will begin.
