14 Scarborough Subway Extension $5.5 billion

The Scarborough Subway Extension is a 7.8-km extension of
TTC’s Line 2 Bloor-Danforth Subway, from the existing Kennedy Station northeast to McCowan Road/Sheppard Avenue.
The line will include three new stations at Lawrence Avenue
and McCowan Road, Scarborough Centre and a terminal station at McCowan Road and Sheppard Avenue. Construction for
the Scarborough Subway Extension began in the spring of 2021
at the corner of Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road with the
excavation of the tunnel launch shaft, which will be about 80
metres long, 28 metres wide, and 28 metres deep.

The Government of Canada is undertaking a comprehensive
rehabilitation of the Parliament buildings in Ottawa. Work is
underway to restore and modernize the Centre Block, the most
iconic and impressive of the Parliament buildings. It will undergo extensive interior and exterior upgrades.
The Centre Block Rehabilitation Project is the largest, most
complex heritage rehabilitation project ever seen in Canada
and one of the largest in the world. Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is using innovative approaches and
technologies throughout the project. When the Centre Block
reopens, it will be ready to meet the needs of a 21st-century
Parliament for years to come.
Today, the Centre Block is a busy construction site with activity inside and out:
• Excavation to accommodate the new Parliament Welcome
Centre has begun
• Demolition and abatement activities inside the Centre Block
are well underway
• PSPC is restoring the building’s heritage masonry and ensuring the structure meets modern seismic standards
In June 2021, PSPC unveiled the design, scope, and anticipated timelines of the rehabilitation project. The current cost
estimate is between $4.5 and $5 billion, and the targeted completion date is between 2030 and 2031. The Centre Block is estimated to reopen one year later. Overall, the project remains
within scope and is progressing on time and within budget.
