SOUTH NIAGARA HOSPITAL
2026 Top100 Projects Rank: 26 Value: $3.6 billion
THE SOUTH NIAGARA HOSPITAL PROJECT completed the
昀椀nal structural concrete pour—a signi昀椀cant
step towards completion of the superstructure
work on the 12-storey building.
“Completing the last superstructure
concrete pour is a signi昀椀cant milestone for
our project and coincides with crossing
the midway point of the project timeline,”
said Patrick Topping, director Transaction
and Construction on the South Niagara
Hospital Redevelopment Team. “The
progress we’re seeing on the project re昀氀ects
years of collaboration, careful planning and
tremendous e昀昀ort from all our teams and the
hundreds of construction workers bringing it
to life.”
Since breaking ground in summer 2023,
work on the 1.3-million-square-foot facility
has advanced signi昀椀cantly. While crews are
forming the top 昀氀oor of the building, work is
underway on the mechanical and electrical
systems, interior partitions and exterior
cladding. Inside, activity continues from the
ground 昀氀oor to the upper levels.
The South Niagara Hospital is on track to
open in 2028.

PETER GILGAN FAMILY QUEENSWAY HEALTH CENTRE
2026 Top100 Projects Rank: 66 Value: $1.3 billion
36—RENEW CANADA – MARCH/APRIL 2026
NIAGARA HEALTH, THP
TRILLIUM HEALTH PARTNERS (THP) and the Government of Ontario, together
with donors and community partners, marked a major milestone in
the construction of The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre by
raising the 昀椀nal structural beam.
“The Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre re昀氀ects a shared
commitment to advancing accessible, high-quality rehabilitation and
complex continuing care, delivered closer to home for people today
and in the future,” said THP CEO Karli Farrow.
With the structure now at full height, the project is 40 per cent of
the way toward substantial completion and is moving into the next
phase focused on enclosing the building and 昀椀nishing the spaces
where patients will receive care.
In April 2024, construction began on the future home of The
Gilgan Family Queensway Health Centre, following the awarding
of a $1.3 billion 昀椀xed-price contract to EllisDon Corporation to
build and 昀椀nance the project. Patient tower occupancy and 昀椀nal
completion is planned for 2029.
