2024 Going Digital Awards
ENTLEY SYSTEMS announced the winners
of the 2024 Going Digital Awards
at it annual Year in Infrastructure
event in Vancouver, which honor the
extraordinary work of infrastructure
professionals and their innovative
use of Bentley software to improve the
way infrastructure is designed, built, and
operated.
This year, 250 projects were nominated by
organizations in 36 countries. Winners were
selected from among 36 昀椀nalists in 12 categories by a panel of independent judges.
“This year, we received an impressive
variety of submissions for the Going Digital
Awards from users across the globe, showcasing groundbreaking projects that exemplify the future of infrastructure,” said Kristin

delivery and asset performance.”
In the Enterprise Engineering category,
the winner was Mott MacDonald and HDR
for work on the Ontario Line, Toronto’s new
subway line, which consists of 15.6 kilometres
of new railway infrastructure and 15 new
stations. Working together as a combined
technical advisor, Mott MacDonald and HDR
had to e昀케ciently manage and share reliable
data across multiple contracted organizations.
The teams used Bentley’s iTwin Platform
to provide quick, web-based access to the
latest models, while ProjectWise served as
the connected data environment. SYNCHRO
and LumenRT helped improve 4D modeling
and visualization capabilities, improving
communication with the team and third-party stakeholders. The team reduced time to
access 昀椀les by 50 per cent while also saving
15 hours per week in checking and reporting
昀椀le status. The team was also 60 per cent
more e昀케cient with their constructability and
scheduling meetings.
At the event, Bentley also made several
announcements, including a strategic partnership with Google to integrate Google’s
high-quality geospatial content with Bentley’s infrastructure engineering software and
digital twin platform, and the availability of
new Carbon Analysis capabilities in iTwin
Experience to simplify carbon reporting, easily visualize embodied carbon, and rapidly
explore alternatives for better designs.
“Carbon assessments should be standard
practice for global infrastructure projects,
but creating carbon reports isn’t easy,” said
Chris Bradshaw, chief sustainability o昀케cer,
Bentley Systems. “Using Carbon Analysis capabilities helps transform the tedious task of
carbon reporting into a smooth, automated
process—providing infrastructure professionals with greater visibility into carbon
impacts and helping them design sustainable
infrastructure faster and more easily.”
