Sean Strickland
Greg Woltman
BuildForce Canada announced the election of Sean Strickland,
executive director of Canada’s Building Trades Unions, as the chair of
its Board of Directors for a two-year term. Prior to his role with CBTU,
Strickland was director of business development and industry with
Pomerleau Inc. He has also held various executive roles with such organizations as
the Ontario Construction Secretariat, and the Waterloo Wellington Building Trades. He
joined the BuildForce Canada Board of Directors in 2020.
Charl van Niekerk
Entuitive announced the addition of senior structural engineer
Greg Woltman to its Ottawa office. Woltman brings over 15 years of
experience on residential high-rise and historic landmarks in Ottawa,
Toronto, and Atlantic Canada, and most recently worked as a structural lead at WSP and Adjeleian Allen Rubeli in Ottawa. Some of his high-profile projects
include recent upgrades to the Bank of Canada Headquarters, the Parliament Hill
Visitor Welcome Centre, and the Rideau Centre Renovation.
Kevin Pankratz
Infrastructure Canada announced the appointment of Charl van
Niekerk to the position of CEO of Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority
(WDBA), the Crown corporation responsible for the delivery of the
Gordie Howe International Bridge project. van Niekerk recently held
the position of executive vice president – Transportation at Infrastructure Ontario and
brings a wealth of experience in infrastructure planning and delivery, asset management, and operational management in the public and private sectors. van Niekerk
oversaw the delivery of complex provincial highway, subway, and rail projects, including
the successful delivery of the Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway.
Zuliana Mawani, Eduards Miska
AECOM announced the appointments of Zuliana Mawani
as the vice president and operations manager for its
water business in the GTA and Eduards Miska as director
of engineering in B.C. Mawani’s career portfolio includes
assignments for the Regions of Durham, Halton, Niagara, Peel, Waterloo and York, as well
as the cities of Toronto and Barrie. Miska brings 30 years of public sector experience with
the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) to the role.
The Canadian Wood Council (CWC) announced the appointment of
Kevin Pankratz to the role of Board chair. Pankratz moves into the role
from his previous position as Board Vice Chair. “I am honored to be the
new Chair at the CWC,” said Pankratz. “I look forward to working with the
Council, my fellow board members, and member delegates to continue the important
work of the CWC in advancing the use of wood within the built environment.”
Gary Rose
SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. announced the appointment of Gary Rose
as executive vice president, Canada, Nuclear at SNC-Lavalin. In this
role, Rose will also serve as the president and CEO of Candu Energy
Inc. Rose joins SNC-Lavalin from Ontario Power Generation, where he
was most recently vice president of New Nuclear Growth. Rose’s experience included
leadership roles across OPG exploring the development of new nuclear builds in
Ontario, the CANDU reactor life-extensions at the Darlington site, supporting other
jurisdictions on their nuclear new build strategies in both Canada and abroad, and
interfacing with both provincial and federal levels of government.

Andrew Hurd
The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies – Ontario
(ACEC-Ontario) announced that Andrew Hurd has been selected
as the Association’s next executive director. Andrew is currently the
director, Policy & Stakeholder Relations at the Ontario Road Builders
Association, a position he has held since 2017. His prior experience includes over 12
years with the Government of Ontario in a variety of roles, including advisory and senior
advisory capacities with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Transportation, the
Ministry of Indigenous Affairs, and the Office of the Premier.
Yves Roland Mondou,
Suzanne Demeules and
Jeff Halliday
CIMA+ announced the appointments of
Yves Roland Mondou as chief project
officer, and Suzanne Demeules as executive vice president, Transportation. Jeff Halliday
has also been named as senior director and regional manager for BC Infrastructure. Halliday will lead the Infrastructure group in Vancouver, working in collaboration with the Buildings, Energy and Resources and Transportation groups. With CIMA+ since 2009, Mondou is
currently executive vice president, Project Management. Demeules, currently chief practice
officer, started at CIMA+ in 1998 as an engineer on the Transportation team.
Englobe announced the appointments of Peter Allaby
as senior vice president for Ontario and Atlantic
Canada, and Brian Decoste as senior vice president,
West and Business Development. Having led a diverse
team of over 200 Englobe technical professionals in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia,
and Newfoundland and Labrador for the past two years, Allaby will now welcome over
400 team members in Ontario as well. Decoste brings over 30 years of experience in
engineering and construction to his expanded mandate where he will work in Western Canada to deliver value and expertise to clients and communities.
Amir Abd El Halim
WSP Canada Inc. has hired Amir Abd El Halim as the new regional
leader for the Ontario and Atlantic region. With more than 20 years
working in the North American engineering consulting space, Amir has
provided executive leadership to large multi-disciplinary businesses. Most recently, he was the SVP of Operations (Ontario) for Englobe, following a
17-year career at Stantec, having started as an Engineer in Training, and progressing
up to the vice president and regional leader for Ontario, a position which he held
until 2021.
Dan Lefebvre and Grant Campbell,
Robert Jackson and Tobias Fast
Fast + Epp announced the appointments of Robert
Jackson and Tobias Fast as partners in the firm. Jackson has been a key figure in the development of several
of the firm’s innovative timber projects including the
18-storey TallWood House at the University of British Columbia, and Limberlost Place,
a mass timber tower now under construction at Toronto’s George Brown College. Fast
serves as director of digital practice where he leads the integration between engineering and design technology to advance optimization and automation at Fast + Epp.

J.L. Richards & Associates Limited (JLR) announced
the appointments of Dan Lefebvre, C.E.T., to civil
discipline chief, and Grant Campbell, P.Eng., to
Indigenous market leader. Lefebvre brings 29 years
of civil design experience to the role—21 of which have been with JLR. He will lead
JLR’s growing team of more than 70 civil engineering professionals and technologists across seven offices. Campbell will lead JLR’s growing team of professionals
who expand client base and business opportunities within JLR’s Indigenous Market.
