Advanced Nuclear Materials
Research Centre
$800 MILLION
The Advanced Nuclear Materials Research Centre (ANMRC) will
be a state-of-the-art nuclear research facility that supports and
expands CNL’s research into clean energy and production capabilities, radioactive materials, advanced reactor fuels, existing fuels,
nuclear medicine, environmental stewardship, and global security.
The 10,000-square-metre ANMRC is expected to be critical to the
life extension and long-term reliability of existing reactors, including Canada’s fleet of CANDU reactors and other designs deployed
around the world.
Construction of the new laboratory research complex is being
managed via an integrated project delivery (IPD) agreement.

Radio Network
$765 MILLION
The project aims to renew a radio network
used by 38,000 frontline and emergency
responders over 750,000 square kilometres.
The contract to build the system’s land mobile
radio network—which includes core infrastructure, support antennas, servers, and data
centre equipment—was awarded to Bell Mobility Radio. It will also provide first responders,
as well as their dispatchers, with new radio
equipment and consoles and provide network
and radio equipment maintenance services for
15 years.

The 11-kilometre project is divided into three segments:
the south one that connects with the Southwest Calgary
Ring Road, the north one that meets the Trans-Canada
Highway, and a new bridge across the Bow River. The north
segment, running between Old Banff Coach Road and the
Trans-Canada Highway, was constructed by EllisDon. The
West Bow River Bridge twinning project will be built by
Flatiron and Aecon and has been tendered at a cost of $89 million.
The West Calgary Ring Road is expected to open fully to traffic in 2024. When
complete, the entire Calgary Ring Road will provide travellers with 101 kilometres of
free-flow freeway travel around the largest city in the province.
