When operational, the Springbank Off-stream
Reservoir Project (SR1) will work in tandem with
the Glenmore Reservoir and other flood mitigation
infrastructure in and around Calgary. The SR1 Project
includes: a diversion structure on the Elbow River; a
4.7-kilometre diversion channel; a 29-metre earthen
dam stretching approximately 3.8 kilometres; and a
series of hydraulic structures and two overpass bridges
above the diversion channel, totalling 70,000 cubic
metres of reinforced concrete. In total, earthwork
volume for this project is estimated at around five
million cubic metres.

Improvement Program
$738 MILLION
Route 389 links the city of Baie-Comeau
and the Newfoundland-Labrador border over
570 kilometres. The road was built in several
steps by various contractors. It has a very

Bowmanville
Extension Project
$730 MILLION
Building on the recommendations of the Bowmanville
Expansion Initial Business Case (IBC) approved at the
February 2020 Metrolinx Board meeting, the Preliminary
Design Business Case confirms the feasibility of the alignment
identified in the IBC, while examining two different weekend
service options. The alignment proposes one new track plus
sidings and passing tracks where necessary through Oshawa
GO station connecting to CP’s GM spur line to cross Highway
401, making an eventual connection through CP’s Belleville
Subdivision to Bowmanville. When service opens, the line will
provide four morning trips along the line to Union Station in
downtown Toronto, and four afternoon trips making all station
stops to the new Bowmanville station.
