Cheryl Fort
The Good Roads Board of Directors unanimously elected Cheryl
Fort, Mayor of Hornepayne, to the position of third vice president.
Fort, who has been on the board since 2019, is the first Indigenous
Board member in Good Roads’ 128-year history. “I am grateful for the
opportunity,” said Fort. “It is my hope that we can continue to build bridges between
municipalities and First Nation communities with the common goal of improving
infrastructure.”
David Lebeter
Hydro One announced the appointment of David Lebeter as the company’s new president and CEO. With more than 40 years of experience
in the utility and forestry sectors, Lebeter previously served as the
company’s COO with responsibility for transmission and distribution
including construction, maintenance, vegetation management as well as system
operations, asset planning and engineering. Before joining Hydro One, he held executive positions in safety and operations at BC Hydro and in the forest industry.
Jennifer Quaglietta
Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) announced the appointment
Jennifer Quaglietta as PEO’s chief executive officer/registrar, who succeeds Johnny Zuccon. Quaglietta previously served as vice president,
performance excellence and information services at the Healthcare
Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC), where she led the transformation of HIROC’s
organization, practices and thinking to enable a culture of innovation and agility in
support of a safer healthcare system across Canada. As registrar, Quaglietta will be
responsible for PEO’s administration of the Professional Engineers Act.
Dr. Krista Barfoot
SRL Consulting announced that Dr. Krista Barfoot has joined the
company as the Infrastructure Sector Lead. Barfoot is a contaminated sites specialist with over 25 years of industry experience in project
and program management, portfolio and business risk management,
business development, and operational leadership. Krista is currently the vice president of the Canadian Brownfields Network and the PFAS committee chair for the
Ontario Environmental Industry Association (ONEIA).
Kent Becker
Morrison Hershfield announced the promotion of Kent Becker to
senior vice president, Integrated Engineering Design. In this role, he
will lead the company’s building facilities engineering, mission critical,
and telecommunications practices in Canada, India and the U.S.
Becker joined Morrison Hershfield in 2017 as vice president, Telecommunications
and Technology. He is a graduate of San Diego State University and has a diverse
background that includes real estate development, technology, telecom and software.
Josh Reynolds
Morrison Hershfield announced the appointment of Josh Reynolds
to director, Telecom and Technology. As director, Reynolds will
lead the Telecom and Technology team in the successful delivery
of projects across North America. His focus will be enhancing
client relationships and supporting and fostering collaboration between Morrison
Hershfield’s integrated engineering design teams. He has been with the company
for over 15 years, the last five years as a lead project manager in the U.S. East Site
Development Department.
Bogdan Burzawa
J.L. Richards & Associates Limited (JLR) announced the appointment
of Bogdan Burzawa to Buildings Market chief. Bogdan is an associate
and senior mechanical engineer with the firm. He will work closely
with other leaders within the organization to deploy JLR’s Buildings
Market business plan and be responsible for the market’s overall strategic direction
and growth. Burzawa brings a unique perspective to the business through successful
completion of projects in over two dozen countries.
Bruce G. Matthews
Bruce G. Matthews announced he will retire as executive director of
the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies—Ontario at the
end of June 2023. Over his career, Matthews has served as president
of BGM Human Factors Engineering and Simplifico, usability specialist for the CIBC, section head for Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. and deputy registrar
for Professional Engineers Ontario, the Real Estate Council of Ontario and the Ontario
College of Trades.
Helga Reidel and Jeff Allsop
Infrastructure Canada announced the appointment
of Helga Reidel and Jeff Allsop to the Board of
Directors of Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA),
the Crown corporation responsible for the delivery of
the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. Reidel is president and CEO of ENWIN
Utilities Ltd. and brings more than 34 years of senior executive and board director
experience in the public and private sectors. Allsop, former CEO of HSBC Securities
(Canada), brings over 30 years of senior executive experience in finance and banking.
Andrew Canning
NFP announced the hiring of Andrew Canning as senior vice president and head of Project Risk Advisory, for the company’s growing
North America Construction & Infrastructure group. The group, part
of NFP’s Specialty business, provides clients with comprehensive
construction and surety services designed specifically for complex national and
cross-border projects. He will focus on delivering a suite of insurance and analytics
tools that support risk management strategies for construction and infrastructure
projects across North America.
Michael Casey
EllisDon announced the appointment of Michael Casey to the position
of senior vice president and general counsel. Casey joined EllisDon
Legal Services as legal counsel 2011 before being promoted to senior
counsel in 2014, managing director in 2015, VP and deputy general
counsel in 2019, and privacy officer in 2020. Casey will oversee EllisDon’s Legal Services
department and all its functions, including all litigation, Public-Private-Partnerships (P3),
corporate, labour relations, international, and insurance claims.
David Benoit
The Province of Nova Scotia announced that David Benoit will serve
as the new president and CEO of Build Nova Scotia, a new Crown corporation established to drive economic growth across the province.
Benoit, currently the senior executive director for Strategic Investment
and Infrastructure Planning with the Department of Health and Wellness, joined the
Province in April 2020 following a 30-year career with the Canadian Armed Forces as
an engineering officer in the Royal Canadian Navy.
