A BREAKDOWN OF THE
2026 TOP100 PROJECTS REPORT

WITH THE 2026 EDITION of the Top100 Projects Report, the total project value of
Canada’s largest has reached $343 billion, a whopping one-year increase of
$43 billion.
For 2026, 12 new projects—worth $70 billion—were added, including four
energy projects, four buildings projects and four transit projects. Nearly $50
billion comes from a pair of Ontario nuclear projects—Pickering Generating
Station Refurbishment and Darlington New Nuclear Project—being constructed
by Ontario Power Generation.
The new transit projects include Calgary’s relaunched Green Line LRT,
Toronto’s Yonge-North Subway Extension, and the federal government’s Alto
High-Speed Rail Network, which promises to significantly reduce travel times
between major cities in the Toronto–Québec City corridor.
Overall, the transit sector again leads the Top100 Projects Report with one
quarter (25) of the projects, valued at $123 billion, followed by the energy
sector (10 projects, $80 billion), the buildings sector (36 projects, $81 billion),
the water-wastewater, communications, and remediation sector (12 projects,
$30 billion), and the transportation sector (17 projects, $29 billion).
