Prabmeet Sarkaria, Paul Calandra
Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced changes to
his Cabinet. Prabmeet Sarkaria was named Minister
of Transportation, while Paul Calandra was named
Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Sarkaria is
the MPP for Brampton South and was previously the president of the Treasury Board
of Ontario. Calandra is the MPP for Markham-Stouffville and was previously Minister of
Legislative Affairs.
Jason Colenutt
AECOM named Jason Colenutt as its operations manager for the
British Columbia Lower Mainland and Sasha Milovic as its operations
manager for Calgary. Colenutt began his career in Vancouver as an
AECOM project engineer from 2007 to 2011 before progressing to
diverse roles in engineering and municipal consulting. Most recently, he was the City of
Surrey’s Manager of Design and Construction. Milovic has over 25 years of experience
in operational management, working for organizations at various stages of growth,
including start-ups, established business turnarounds, and mergers and acquisitions.
Catherine Karakatsanis
Catherine Karakatsanis, COO at Morrison Hershfield Group, has been
elected as president of the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC), the first woman to hold the role in the group’s 110-year
history. Based in Toronto, Karakatsanis is responsible for more than 900
professionals in 26 offices across Canada and the United States and one in India. “I
feel humbled by the trust shown in me to represent this brilliant industry organization.
I feel extremely fortunate and honoured to be able to serve my profession and industry
through FIDIC.”

CDPQ Infra announced appointments
to key positions in its management
team. Daniel Farina, deputy managing director, was promoted to managing director of the organization, in support of
Jean-Marc Arbaud, president and CEO. Sophie Lussier, vice president and head of
Legal Affairs, CDPQ, will now serve as executive vice president and head of Corporate
Services, Organizational Performance and Secretariat. Philippe Batani, vice president,
Public Affairs and Communications at CDPQ, was appointed executive vice-president,
Public Affairs, Communications and Strategy.
The Toronto and Area Road Builders Association (TARBA) announced the
appointment of Raly Chakarova as its new executive director. She will
also be joining the Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario
(RCCAO) as a Board Director. Prior to taking on this role, Raly served
as executive director of the BOLT Foundation, director of policy at the Toronto Region
Board of Trade and as senior advisor to the Ontario Minister of Economic Development
and Growth.

Marco Bolk
Burns & McDonnell promoted Marco Bolk to lead the firm’s Canadian
Construction Group, based in Calgary. Bolk has construction experience
across different market sectors including oil and gas, electrical transmission and distribution, construction, food and consumer products,
and power generation. He has more than 15 years working with project engineers and
key suppliers. Prior to coming to Burns & McDonnell, he managed regional offices in
both Ontario and Western Canada, focusing on turnkey engineer-procure-construct
(EPC) solutions.
The Ontario Road Builders’ Association (ORBA) announced the appointment of Walid
Abou-Hamde as executive director. Abou-Hamde served as director of Stakeholder
Relations to the Ontario Minister of Infrastructure and Minister of Labour, Immigration,
Training and Skills Development. He most recently served as vice president, Corporate
Affairs and Partnerships at Skilled Trades Ontario. ORBA also announced the following
promotions: Jasvinder Singh has been promoted to director of Membership Services
and Events Planning. Guru Missar has been promoted to director of Marketing and
Communications. Xin Chen joins as head of Finance. Abhinav Gupta has been promoted to senior manager of Membership Services and Events Planning. Ashley Manson has
been promoted to head of Human Resources, Administration and Governance.
Richard Barrett
AECOM announced the appointment of Richard Barrett as regional
chief executive of its Canada business. Barrett has nearly 35 years of
industry experience, including 23 years with AECOM. He has served in
multiple leadership roles in the Australia New Zealand region, including
his most recent position as regional chief executive. He succeeds Marc Devlin, current
regional chief executive of the company’s Canada business, who is retiring from his
leadership position.
Jesse Unke
Maven Consulting Limited announced that Jesse Unke has been
appointed as president and CEO of the company. An experienced
industry executive and business leader, Jesse will succeed co-founder
Trevor St Germain who will continue to act as a member of the board.
Jesse is an engineering and construction executive with over 20 years of experience. As
past President and board director for the British Columbia Construction Roundtable,
he is a notable figure in the industry and on the forefront of the latest innovations.
Brian Murray
AECOM announced the appointment of Brian Murray as senior program management director. Based in Ontario, Murray will work with
private and public sector clients to deliver large, outcome-driven transit
and rail infrastructure programs. He draws on global best practices and
expertise gained from working on behalf of public sector agencies, contractors, and
consultants on multifaceted rail programs such as the London Underground Sub-Surface Upgrade Program, the Abu Dhabi Metro and Light Rail Transit network, and the
Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail.

Jeannine Martin is the new president of the Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA). With over 25 years of industry experience
in private construction and engineering, and leadership on local industry boards, including the British Columbia Construction Roundtable
(BCCR) and the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies—British Columbia
(ACEC-BC), the association says that Martin understands the challenges and opportunities facing B.C.’s construction industry.
