The Réseau express metropolitain (REM) will be a new integrated network linking
downtown Montreal, South Shore, West Island, North Shore, and the airport. Once
completed, the 67-km line will be one of the longest automated metro lines in the
world. The REM opened its first segment on July 31, 2023, with five new stations

spread over 17 kilometres. In November. 2024 CDPQ Infra announced that work in
the Mont-Royal Tunnel is progressing and that dynamic tests are going well on the
Deux-Montagnes and Anse-à-l’Orme branches. As a result, CDPQ Infra is targeting
fall 2025 for the next commissioning of the REM.
