NEW
The new North Shore Wastewater Treatment Plant will serve over 300,000 residents
and businesses in the Districts of North and
West Vancouver, the City of North Vancouver,
and Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish
Nation), and s lilw ta1 (Tsleil-Waututh
Nation). It will replace the existing Lions
Gate Wastewater Treatment Plant on the
North Shore, one of the last plants on the
west coast of Canada and the United States
to provide only primary level wastewater
treatment. Building a new wastewater
treatment plant that provides a higher level
of treatment is essential to comply with
mandatory federal regulations. It will also
ensure the treated wastewater released into
the marine environment of the Burrard Inlet
is much cleaner.

The new South Niagara Hospital project will centralize services from
existing facilities, making it easier for residents to access the care they need
at one location, provide an overall better experience, and enable communities to be healthier. In 2024, excavation for the foundation and basement
level was completed, including the insertion of more than 1,250 steel piles
into the bedrock to support the building foundation. In May 2024, construction moved above ground level as work began on the superstructure.
Currently crews are working on the first three floors of the building. Over the
next two years, building will grow floor-by-floor until it reaches its 12-storey
peak at an impressive 61-metres tall.
